The difference between Yahoo and Google

Search Experience

When you put a search query, yahoo gives a better description in the search results than google giving a definite indication of what a site contains.

I haven’t been to any spam site when I searched in yahoo; Yahoo is a serious competitor to Google in search engines as it crawl a site better and faster than Google does.

Yahoo is better in news updates than any other search engine, the features yahoo got for you are a lot, it is like when you go to health.yahoo.com, you will feel like yahoo is serious and more user friendly unlike Google as When you search in google on a health remedy, you will get a list of options on causes, treatment etc which is also good, but the browsing experience is what Yahoo seriously concentrates on than on the search platform which is the main weapon of Google.

Yahoo’s search results are the definite example on the above statement. While Google is definitely ahead when it comes to delivering the direct results, this I mean the pages which are the most important and relevant for a search query.

Both Google and Yahoo provide their own ways of unique experience for any SEO.
Any SEO can learn how to target a page directly on a search query with Google while Yahoo guides how to interlink the content of different pages as per relevancy which is a true indication of good browsing experience.

1. Yahoo News is the 2006 online traffic winner.
2. Yahoo is resisting a subpoena from Google, which wants access to its internal documents relating to a project for scanning books and making them available online. Google is seeking information to defend itself against copyright lawsuits that book publishers and authors have filed relating to Google’s own book project. Google is scanning copyrighted library books to make them searchable on the Internet but says it is not infringing on copyrights because only “snippets” are available for reading.

The Motto of these two giants

Google’s motto is “Don’t be evil.

Yahoo’s motto is “Deliver great value to our consumers and, basically, value them.

Common Points

It seems that both Google and Yahoo are interested to buy those sites which have come up from nowhere and have millions of users.

Present war status

As I have said, whatever Yahoo has come up till now, it had mostly concentrated on User’s browsing experience, visual appeal while Google has appealed to users by its simplicity.

I believe Google should not come up with what Yahoo did till now and Yahoo should never follow the simplicity mantra of Google.

Let the war continue between visually appealing yahoo and a Simple Google.

Iam not an Seo person, but I feel that many of the normal users hardly use yahoo, this is not because yahoo is not a good search engine, but it is because the minute you say “search engine” it is just google. So unless google crashes big time, I will never use yahoo or msn.

Yahoo is good for some keywords! Yep google’s simplicity sometimes is irritable, and yahoo’s user experience funda get on your nerves! But fact is you can surf through GOOGLE search results far easily when compared to Yahoo search results, probably thats one of the reasons why google beats Yahoo in popularity.
